All change at the Stockport pub run by same family for 91 years

A family who has run a pub in Stockport for four generations has handed over the reins to new owners.
The Davenport Arms, located on Chester Road in Woodford, has been in the Hallworth family for 91 years but has now been taken over by new owners. Landlady Yvonne Hallworth, who has worked at the pub for 42 years, said it was ‘extremely emotional’ to be leaving the pub after so long.
Also known as the Thief’s Neck, the pub is described on social media as being ‘Woodford's most famous pub’ and located in a ‘gorgeous country setting’. On TripAdvisor, the pub has a 4.5 rating and is a recipient of a Traveller’s Choice 2023 award.

Posting on social media, Yvonne said of the pub, which is operated by chain Robinsons: “The Davenport Arms has been in the Hallworth family for four generations - 91 years. I’ve lived here 58 years on and off, worked here 42 years and [been a] licensee 32 years. It’s extremely emotional as I’m sure you can imagine.”
Robinsons also shared a post about the legacy of the pub. The chain wrote: “We would like to say farewell to Yvonne Hallworth, who has called last orders at the Davenport Arms after an incredible 32 years of running the popular pub.
“Yvonne, along with her family, devoted an amazing 91 years to the Davenport Arms pub in Woodford. The family’s legacy brought 91 years of warmth, laughter, and community spirit. Their presence will be deeply missed, and we wish Yvonne and her family all the best in their future endeavors!”
