Alison Hammond to present This Morning after Phillip Schofield tests positive for Covid-19

Alison Hammond will replace Phillip Schofield on This Morning today, Tuesday 1 February, after he tested positive for Covid-19. The Dancing on Ice presenter took to Instagram late on Monday evening, 31 January, to announce to his three million followers that he had tested positive for the virus and would have to self-isolate. He wrote: “well b*****ks!” alongside a picture of the positive lateral flow test.The 59 year old reassured fans that he was not too unwell and “currently just [had] a slightly sore throat.” In light of Phillip’s illness, ITV has confirmed that Alison, 46, will step in to cover for the hit ITV morning show host while he recovers.

Alison, who typically presents the show with Dermot O’Leary on Friday, will be joining the former Saturday’s singer on the sofa. Holly was expected to return from filming Wim Hof’s Superstar Survival on Monday, but she did not return. Phillip is not the first presenter on the show to test positive, as Vernon Kay had to step down from hosting the show during the summer after he tested positive.
