Alison Hammond has offered her support to Paloma Faith over being a single parent, admitting that she also "felt that failure" when she split from her son's dad.
The This Morning host welcomed popstar Paloma to the couch on Friday, where they chatted about the inspiration behind the singer's new album and Paloma, 42, revealed she had been influenced by splitting from her daughters' dad. She admitted of the split: "It's my biggest failure and probably my only regret," but Alison, 48, would not let Paloma feel down about becoming a single parent as she shared her own relatable story.
Alison, who has one son, said: "Firstly, Paloma, it's not a failure.
This is life. People will split up.
"Just the fact that it's the children's dad you split up with doesn't make you a failure, you might even find that it's your biggest success." Talking up her superstar guest, she told her: "You're a single mum, you're a pop star, you're absolutely smashing it and you look like you're from France. Do you know what I mean, babe? You are smashing life, don't ever say that's a failure, that's your life, that's your journey, that's your story, and that's how it's going." Paloma looked touched as she replied: "Well, thank you.
You're amazing, you're like the beacon of it all," and co-host Dermot O'Leary likened the chat to "therapy". But Alison had her own story to share as she continued: "You're not a failure, listen, I felt that failure when I split up with my son's dad but you know, his dad now moved on, he's married, he's got three other children, they're part of our family as well.
