Police have launched an investigation into the alleged child abduction of Alex Batty.
Alex was reported missing after he went on holiday to Marbella, Spain, with mum Melanie Batty and grandfather, David Batty in 2017. He was aged just 11.
His mother was not his legal guardian. Now 17, he has returned home to Oldham to be with his grandmother and legal guardian Susan Caruana.

The teenager was found last week on a rural road near Quillan, France, where he was picked up by a part-time delivery driver. He offered Alex, who used the name Zach in France, a lift, before discovering his real identity and taking him to a police station.
Today (December 22), a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed officers have launched a criminal investigation into the alleged child abduction of Alex. Officers have spoken with him this week, the spokesperson said.
No further details on the investigation have been released at this stage. In a statement, the force said: "Greater Manchester Police has launched a criminal investigation into child abduction to understand the circumstances surrounding Alex Batty going missing from 30 September 2017 to Wednesday 13 December 2023."
