Eredivisie champions Ajax are reportedly considering a return for Donny van de Beek following his frustrating spell at Manchester United.
The Dutchman played just 10 times, of which just four were starts, before knee surgery in January ended his season. Van de Beek departed Erik ten Hag’s Ajax for Old Trafford in 2020 but has failed to stamp his mark on the club.
The 25-year-old has mostly been used as a rotation player and eventually secured a short-term loan at Everton during the second half of last season, although spent most of it injured.

It had been hoped that Van de Beek would rediscover his peak quality under Ten Hag upon his appointment but the attacking midfielder has failed to reignite the form that saw him star in Ajax’s run to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019.
Now Football Insider claims that Ajax are mulling over offering a return for Van de Beek. United paid around £40m for the midfielder but are reportedly resigned to the fact that the player will be sold on for less, perhaps around £25m given he still has two years left on his deal.
There are expected to be more outgoings than imports at United this summer and another player who could go through the exit door is Dean Henderson. The goalkeeper is on loan at Nottingham Forest for the season but is not expected to stay on at his parent club next term.
