John Legend planned to work as a management consultant for just a year while he worked on his music - but he ended up staying for three. After he graduated from college, the All of Me singer got a job as a management consultant to pay the bills while writing and recording music in his spare time. In an interview with The New Yorker, John admitted he did pretty well doing "the market research and presentation-writing and number-crunching" the job involved, but he was there much longer than expected.

Big Little Lies producer Bruna Papandrea’s production company, Made Up Stories, is expanding with a new UK office run by Sarah Harvey, who has joined the company as a producer and creative director. Harvey officially began her new position in August.

Kendrick Sampson has launched BLD PWR Productions, a new production company that extends the impact of his advocacy initiative of the same name. The actor — best known for “Insecure,” “Miss Juneteenth,” “How to Get Away with Murder” and “The Vampire Diaries” — is the co-founder of BLD PWR, which helped to mobilize thousands of protesters during the #BlackLivesMatter movement of summer 2020 and organized industry leaders to sign a letter calling for Hollywood to divest from the police. “The days of begging for a seat are over. This is what building our own table looks like,” Sampson said in a press release announcing the launch. “We will continue to challenge those in power, but we recognize that it’s not Hollywood’s job to reimagine our future… we have always been experts at our own narratives and we are taking that power back.”

Thania Garcia Maluma and Megan Thee Stallion are set to headline Penske Media Corp.’s first-ever culture and creativity festival, LA3C. The two-day event is set to take place on Dec. 10 and 11 at the Los Angeles State Historic Park. Megan will headline the show on the 10th, while Maluma will headline on the 11th. The festival will welcome Seventeen and Snoop Dogg as guest performers. Both are part of LA3C’s full talent lineup, which is set to showcase musicians, chefs and visual artists. Full programming details will be unveiled in the coming weeks. The event, staged by the parent company of Variety, aims to connect people and communities by showcasing LA’s range of multicultural food and art from some of the world’s most talented artists. The festival’s moniker, LA3C, stands for Los Angeles, the Capital of Culture and Creativity.

Ralph received the honor, presented to her by “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” star Reid Scott, for her work with DIVA (Divinely Inspired, Victoriously Anointed). She began her acceptance speech with a powerful rendition of Dianne Reeves’ “Endangered Species: “I am an endangered species / But I sing no victim’s song / I am a woman I am an artist / And I know where my voice belongs.”

ABC’s “Abbott Elementary” kicked things off with the win for casting in a comedy series. Tonight, winners will be announced in categories such as guest acting in comedy and drama series, original music and lyrics and outstanding television movie. Both nights of the Creative Arts Emmys precede the upcoming primetime ceremony, hosted by comedian Kenan Thompson, which is slated for Monday, Sept. 12.
