Abigail Irozuru emerged from a chastening Olympic long jump final with pride.
The Manchester star fouled her first jump and then managed 6.51m in the second round, seeing her to 11th place. It was 0.29m short of the top eight, who are given the chance to attempt a further three jumps.
“I did not unfortunately do what I came to do,” said the 31-year-old after a contest broadcast live on Eurosport
