Nominations across 13 categories, including LGBTQ+ influencer of the year and venue/event of the year, opened in 2023, before a panel of judges whittled the nominees to a select few, worthy of praise and recognition for their inspirational efforts.
Locally, Manchester saw five nominations across a host of categories who are in with a chance of swooping an award, including Lucky Roy Singh, a Manchester-based Indian Sikh drag performer and mother of the 'House of Spice.'
Lucky, an LGBTQ+ activist and honour-based domestic violence campaigner, is among those shortlisted in the LGBTQ+ influencer of the year category. They told the M.E.N the nomination is not just 'immense feeling', but reflects the importance of being represented as a non-binary, Indian, queer person of colour.
