It's always sad when a band decides to part ways but for some musicians it can lead them on to a whole new career, such as Ultra frontman James Hearn. James, now 47, found fame as a member in boyband Ultra alongside Michael Harwood, Jon O'Mahony and Nick Keynes.
The foursome rose to fame in the late 1990s before splitting up in 2001 and then briefly reuniting in 2005. Lead vocalist James has opted for a completely new career and turned his back on music completely, with it being revealed that he now works the head of asset management at an investment bank in London.
James' LinkedIn profile shows he has worked in his current role for around eight years, having joined the company in February 2015. After he first left Ultra in 2001, James went on to earn a Master's in Real Estate from the University of Reading, following an undergraduate degree in Geography and Management. He then began working as a surveyor.
James, who was a pentathlon athlete prior to finding fame with Ultra, previously spoke about his music career, telling the Daily Telegraph: "My music career was great fun and, as a bunch of guys who got together at Leeds University to give the musical bigtime a go, we had a good time." Ultra was formed in the mid-1990s by James, Michael, Jon and Nick.
They named themselves Ultra in a nod to the hit Depeche Mode album. The band signed a record deal with Warner's EastWest label and in 1998 there first single, Say You Do, was released. It reached number 11 in the UK charts.
Ultra released three more singles before their debut album, titled Ultra, was released in 1999.
