Noel Gallagher given six month driving ban – despite never learning how to drive

Noel Gallagher has been issued a six month driving ban – despite never actually learning how to drive.According to an update by the Evening Standard, the Britpop icon uses a £120,000 chauffeur-driven Range Rover to commute, and famously gave up on getting his own licence in the mid-’90s, while Oasis were at the peak of their fame. However, over recent months, the High Flying Birds singer has supposedly gotten in trouble for speeding various times and racked up an impressive fine along the way.Back in June, he was issued a speeding ticket as well as six penalty points on his licence, a £742 fine and costs and court fees totalling £396. Gallagher’s driver took responsibility for the speeding violation and letters from the Met Police going unanswered, but it was the musician who faced the repercussions, as he was the registered owner of the vehicle.Appearing at Lavender Hill magistrates court yesterday (September 6), the former Oasis member faced the consequences of two more speeding tickets from earlier this year.

Noel Gallagher on why he turned down the offer to present ‘Have I Got News For You’

Noel Gallagher reportedly turned down an offer to front Have I Got News For You. The ex-Oasis man admitted that he didn’t think the opportunity was “for him” and feared that he couldn’t hold his own against the show’s panellists.“I was actually asked to present Have I Got News For You, but I’d be so out of my depth with those guys who are like fucking amazingly funny and witty – Paul Merton and Ian Hislop and whoever else would be on it,” he told The Daily Star.“But like, you see people on Have I Got News For You and you just think, ‘Why are they on it?’“And they don’t say a thing because obviously they’ve not said anything funny and it’s just edited out and they just sit there and it’s just a pointless fucking exercise.“But I’ve been asked to do things like that and I’m always like, ‘No, it’s not for me’.”Gallagher previously told his friend Matt Morgan on his podcast that he’d also received offers from other comedy shows in the past.

Noel Gallagher has opened up about his unreleased collaboration with The Lemonheads frontman Evan Dando, which led to a feud between the two.The former Oasis songwriter and High Flying Birds bandleader worked on a song with Dando around three decades ago, however the two reached an impasse over the track, leading to the song remaining unreleased and a feud bubbling. Now, in a new interview, Gallagher has reflected on the incident and explained what happened to make the relationship between himself and Dando so “awkward”.According to Gallagher, the song was called ‘Purple Parallelogram’ and was written with The Lemonheads singer during the peak of Oasis’ fame in the ’90s. Speaking on Matt Morgan’s Patreon podcast, he also said that the conflict emerged when Dando recorded the two messing about on their guitars and declared he was going to release it as a new song.“We were in this festival circuit in 1994 and on every festival that year was Oasis and The Lemonheads,” the singer, songwriter and guitarist began.

Noel Gallagher has explained the reason behind the “crucial” positioning of his guitar while he is on stage. The former Oasis guitarist previously recalled the stress he experienced in the lead-up to his first show with the band because he’d “never played guitar standing up”. Gallagher believes that the way in which he held his guitar the first time was “crucial”.During an interview for Gibson TV‘s ‘Icons’ series, the singer-songwriter said (via Rolling Stone): “Where you hold your guitar for the first time is crucial. It kind of signifies how much of a cunt you’re going to be, because if it’s too high, you don’t get no fit birds, mate.

The Maccabees’ Felix White on how Johnny Marr influenced the direction of new music with 86TVs

The Maccabees’ Felix White has spoken about how Johnny Marr helped steer the direction of new music with his comeback band 86TVs.The group – comprising Felix’s brothers Hugo and Will (the latter formerly of mid-noughties indie band Talk Taxis and his solo project BLANc) and The Noisettes’ drummer Jamie Morrison – recently released their debut single ‘Worn Out Buildings’.Speaking to NME in a recent interview about writing post-Maccabees and the direction of the new band, Felix explained how The Smiths guitarist and songwriter gave them some important advice for their new material. The band recalled that for the first year of the project, “it was completely instrumental and we were writing music we thought could be a soundtrack or we’d get someone else to sing on”.However, eventually they were convinced by Marr to sing on the tracks themselves.“I think The Maccabees had just split up, but I’d read Johnny Marr’s autobiography, which I loved, and it was a really striking time to read it because a lot of his life has been about reinvention and change,” Felix recalled. He continued: “So there was a correlation in my head at that particular moment in my life with what Johnny’s book had said. I bumped into him at the NME Awards and said, ‘Can I send you some music? We’ve just been doing some instrumental music and we don’t know if it’s good’.

Sam Fender’s brother Liam says they’d “make the Gallagher brothers look like fucking Jedward” if they were in a band together

Sam Fender‘s brother, Liam has said that if they were in a band together, they’d “make the Gallagher brothers look like fucking Jedward.”Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column, the singer said (via Female First): “We’ve done little bits and collaborations here and there, but it’s never been in the remit that we would be in a band or anything like that.He continued: “We are both so involved in our own projects we wouldn’t have a moment to think about it. We’re too stubborn anyway, artistically there would be a battle for the big ideas.”Liam, who released his debut EP ‘Love Will…’ last month, went on to admit that both he and his brother are very “stubborn” and would very much bicker at each other the same way that Noel and Liam Gallagher did while in Oasis. He recently joined his younger brother Sam onstage during his two sold-out nights at Newcastle’s Cathedral on the Hill, to duet on Bruce Springsteen’s slow-burning 1984 classic ‘I’m On Fire’.A post shared by Daniel Caddick (@danielcaddick)As a way to attempt to avoid comparisons to his BRIT award wining brother, Liam revealed that he considered releasing his music under a pseudonym.
