Challengers stars Zendaya as Tashi Duncan, a former tennis prodigy turned coach and a force of nature who makes no apologies for her game on and off the court.
Married to a champion on a losing streak (Mike Faist), Tashi’s strategy for her husband’s redemption takes a surprising turn when he must face off against the washed-up Patrick (Josh O’Connor)–his former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend. As their pasts and presents collide, and tensions run high, Tashi must ask herself, what will it cost to win.
The film is produced by Amy Pascal, Luca Guadagnino, Zendaya, and Rachel O’Connor. Bernard Bellew serves as the film’s executive producer.
It is written by Justin Kuritzkes. Challengers, directed by Luca Guadagnino, opens in theaters on September 15, 2023.

“Challengers,” the new comedy from Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, seems like a big left turn for a director who can seemingly do it all. Guadagnino has done things like acclaimed romantic dramas like “Call Me Be Your Name,” chilling horror like “Suspiria,” and “Bones And All” and very formal arthouse films like, “I Am Love,” and he can seemingly do it all.

Despite his intended desire to stay away from blockbusters and big-brand I.P., and try and stick to original films, filmmaker Gareth Edwards is stepping in to direct the new “Jurassic World” film from writer David Koepp, the original screenwriter of Steven Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park.” Edwards is “replacing” “Deadpool 2” and “Bullet Train” filmmaker David Leitch, who was briefly engaged in negotiations to direct the film but fell out over creative differences.
