‘Yellowstone’ Final Installment Gets New Premiere Date, ‘1944’ Prequel Set, Contemporary Spinoff Gets Title

Yellowstone‘s final chapter, the second half of its fifth season, will premiere on Paramount Network in November 2024. Additionally, the Yellowstone universe is expanding with another prequel, 1944 (working title). And the previously announced contemporary spinoff series is now expected to carry on with the title format of the prequels, getting a 2024 working title, as Paramount is doubling down on the decade idea. Its premiere will follow the conclusion of Yellowstone.
The most watched series on linear television, Yellowstone was originally slated to end its run with Season 5 Part 2 premiering this November, followed by the debut of the contemporary spinoff in December. The two launches have now been pushed to next after the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes delayed production on both shows.
Mothership series star Kevin Costner’s future on the show has been subject of speculation following a dispute over the size of his availability in Season 5. I hear that it is possible for him to be in Yellowstone‘s final episodes.
Meanwhile, it has not been confirmed yet, but as Deadline reported, Matthew McConaughey is expected to headline 2024, joined by actors from the original series.
1944 and 2024 follow previous prequels 1883 and 1923. All Yellowstone series are produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios. The spinoffs are carried by Paramount+.
