A woman had her face and head mauled after she tried to save her dogs from being attacked by two XL Bullies.
Christine Potts was bitten on the face and head and has a suspected broken nose. Christine and her friend Tracey Heyhurst tried to fight the dangerous dogs off during the prolonged attack.
The Bullies eventually tired and ran away - however, moments later one of them savaged another dog in the busy public park.
Christine and Tracey were sitting on a bench after walking their dogs, Rosie, a 16-year-old West Highland Terrier, and Mylo, a two year old Papillon.
Tracey heard another woman shouting for help and when she turned round the XL Bullies, which were not on a lead, had pounced on she and Christine's pets, with one grabbing Rosie by the neck with its powerful jaws.
Tracey punched and kicked the Bully. She told the Mirror: “I hit it but it did not do anything at all.
The other Bully went for Mylo and Christine was bitten as she lay on the floor trying to protect her pet under her body. Christine said: “At one point I was getting so tired I thought we would have to let them kill our dogs. We just could not keep fighting."
The dogs finally ran off but seconds later one attacked a three-year-old Yorkshire Terrier-Chihuahua cross called Scooby, who was also in the park.
Owner Jackie Mahoney, 50, also had to fight to save her dog, which was badly bitten and needed a staple in a wound on its back. Police then arrived and both XL Bullies were captured.
The location, Willow Park in Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside, is used by families. Christine added: “The dogs could easily have had a child. They are too powerful to be kept as pets. It is like walking round with a tiger.”
Jackie started an online petition calling for a ban on the

Brian Steinberg Senior TV Editor Comedy Central is going back to square one in its efforts to find a new host for “The Daily Show.” The Paramount Global cable network is considering a wider array of candidates to take the reins of the program from previous emcee Trevor Noah, according to people familiar with the matter, after having previously identified Hasan Minhaj as a leading possibility. The decision appears to come in the wake of a recent report in The New Yorker in which some of the supposedly autobiographical stories that Minhaj has used in his routines were found to be embellished.
