A woman who brutally attacked her friend in the head with a meat cleaver over a row about money has left her victim feeling like "a walking freak show".
Swansea Crown Court heard that long term mates, Caroline Jones and Jodie Gleed had a falling out after Miss Jones had loaned Gleed £140 and a mobile phone.
The women had a good relationship but Miss Jones decided to confront Gleed after she failed to return the money and the phone, despite telling her she would, Wales Online reports.
At around midnight on Wednesday, October 5, Miss Jones walked to Gleed's home and knocked on the front door, which was answered within seconds. Gleed was holding a meat cleaver, and shouted: "I'm going to f****** kill you."
Prosecutor, Brian Simpson informed the court that Gleed then struck Miss Jones on the head with the side of the cleaver. He added: "There was a brief struggle, and the complainant pushed the defendant away to protect herself, but the defendant shouted she was going to kill her again, and swung the cleaver at her and hit her on the forehead, causing a 10 to 15 cm cut.
"The complainant didn't realise how badly she was injured and walked away. She called the police who attended within a very short period of time and arrested the defendant."
The weapon used in the attack was discovered at Gleed, 34, house under in a sofa in her living room. Miss Jones was treated for her severe forehead injury which required a significant amount of stitches after bone had detached from the outer part of the left front side of her skull.
She was also left with a wound in her nostril. The victim's personal statement was read out to the court on behalf of Miss Jones which read: "The incident has had a massive impact on me emotionally
