Annecy Film Festival to Showcase Projects From Disney, Netflix and Paramount, Boasting Biggest Global Reach Ever

Ben Croll This year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival looks to break records with a wider international reach and greater studio participation than ever before. Already set to overtake last year’s attendance, the French lakeside fest,  runs June 11-17 and had run up 13,300 guests by late May — among them a U.S. delegation more than 700 strong.   “[This year marks] the most important U.S. presence ever at Annecy,” says artistic director Marcel Jean. “We’re taking in historical players such as Disney, DreamWorks and Pixar who will still come, as well as global platforms such as Netflix, Paramount, and Warner Bros. Discovery. And [we’re welcoming] a number of big titles.”

How ‘Daisy Jones’ Stars Riley Keough, Camila Morrone and Suki Waterhouse Are Changing the Narrative for Women in Hollywood

Daisy Jones and the Six” does the opposite — the women are a unit. “From Disney movies that came out when we were tiny, that’s what we were seeing,” says Riley Keough, who portrays rockstar Daisy Jones in the Amazon Prime Video adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s book, which flipped that trope on its head. It was that reason why I chose the women of “Daisy Jones and the Six” for our Women of Awards Season issue. Keough, Suki Waterhouse and Camila Morrone aren’t in competition. Even their characters, three independent women fighting for success and love, weren’t in competition — and two were in love with the same man.

Harrison Ford told stuntmen to “leave me the fuck alone” on ‘Indiana Jones 5’

Harrison Ford has recalled how he told stuntmen to “leave me the fuck alone” while shooting Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny. The upcoming film marks the fifth and final instalment of the long-running action franchise — which kicked off in 1981 with Indiana Jones And The Raiders Of The Lost Ark.Now, over four decades after he first appeared in the lead role, Ford will celebrate his 81st birthday shortly after the latest film hits theatres. However, when speaking in a new interview, the acclaimed actor shared that he was determined not to conceal his age in the project. One moment that highlighted this best, he said, was a scene in Dial Of Destiny in which Jones is riding a horse through the streets of New York City during the 1969 ticker-tape parade that followed the moon landing. While filming this, Ford explained to Esquire, he felt the hands of multiple stuntmen helping him get off the horse, which irritated him as he wanted the scene to show him dismounting how he normally would.“I thought, ‘What the fuck?’ Like I was being attacked by gropers.

Don’t Ask Harrison Ford if Han Solo or Indiana Jones Would Win in a Fight: ‘What Are You Asking Me That Crap For?’

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Harrison Ford revealed in a new interview with Esquire magazine that the most common question “Star Wars” fans ask him is who would win a fight: Han Solo or Indiana Jones? It’s a question that has provided fodder for many Reddit discussions and social media debates, but it’s not one Ford ever wants to entertain. As Ford said about his fans: “Well, they usually ask me, ‘If there was a fight between Han Solo and Indiana Jones, who would fuckin’ win?’ And I say [voice rising, fingers drumming], ‘Me, asshole! I don’t want to fucking make shit up like that. I mean, what are you asking me that crap for?’” Ford has played Indiana Jones in five movies, including the upcoming “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” while his filmography with Han Solo also consists of five movies, including an uncredited cameo appearance in 2019’s “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” That film marked the end of his Han Solo run, while “Dial of Destiny” will mark the same for Indiana Jones. Despite these iconic characters, Ford often stresses to fans that he is Harrison Ford and not Han Solo or Indiana Jones.

‘Sex and the City’ Shocker: Kim Cattrall to Return as Samantha Jones With ‘And Just Like That…’ Cameo (EXCLUSIVE)

Sex and the City” universe will be whole again. Variety has learned that Kim Cattrall will reprise her iconic role as Samantha Jones in the Season 2 finale of “And Just Like That,” Max’s revival of HBO’s “Sex and the City.” But she will only appear in one scene. According to sources, Cattrall shot her dialogue on March 22 in New York City, without seeing or speaking with the stars of the series, including Sarah Jessica Parker, or with “And Just Like That” showrunner Michael Patrick King. In the scene, Samantha, who in the show has moved to London, will have a phone conversation with Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw. In the first season of “And Just Like That,” Carrie engaged with an estranged Samantha over text, and in the finale, the two made a plan to see each other in order to reconcile.

Harrison Ford defends de-aging technology in new ‘Indiana Jones’ movie

Harrison Ford has defended a 25-minute scene in the forthcoming fifth installment of Indiana Jones in which he is de-aged. It comes after a recent trailer for Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny ffeatured a jaw-dropping moment when a bag is pulled from Ford’s head to reveal a significantly younger version of him created through the use of VFX technology. The film’s team shared that new VFX technology was created for the film in order to de-age the 80 year-old, using artificial intelligence to comb through all of the decades-old footage the Lucasfilm studio had of him.But it has drawn criticism from some reviewers who questioned the believability of the technology and why a younger actor couldn’t be used in Ford’s place. But he hit back in a press conference on Friday (May 19) at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.“I know that that is my face,” he said, via Entertainment Weekly. “It’s not a kind of Photoshop magic – that’s what I looked like 35 years ago.
