It feels like an eternity ago when plans were first announced for a new bowling alley inside Trafford Palazzo.
The place had not long been renamed from the former Barton Square when we were told King Pins, the ‘crown jewels of bowling’, would be bringing a massive new alley with ten pin, shuffleboard, and arcade games galore.
Fast forward almost 18 months and the plan has finally come to fruition.
We were among the lucky ones to step inside on launch night to see just what this place has to offer.

In short, there's a lot. It's spread over two floors and everything is so futuristic.
There are 15 lanes of ten-pin bowling in all, four lanes of duck bowling - a smaller version of ten-pin, with shorter, lighter pins - as well as ice free curling, a batting cage, and shuffleboard, where the aim is to slide a puck into the opponent’s area of the board without it falling off the end.
The bowling area - featuring the UK’s first 26 metre long digital screen - is so bright and open, a stark contrast to the suffocating dark alleys we've become accustomed to.
And there's such a relaxed feel to the entire place. I mean it wasn't packed, but it's so spacious, with booths and tables dotted around the main bar for people to grab a drink, or a bite to eat from the two food vendors - pizza pros Ply, and Asian street food favourites Little Bao Boy.
There's a must-try Royal Treats dessert kiosk too, serving the very best Project D donuts adorned with everything from Kinder Buenos and Biscoff to Gold Bars and Freddos. There's also ice cream, blondies, brownies, and a pick ‘n’ mix, which even features those M&S Percy Pigs.
