Grace comes up a lot in tonight’s episode – but just who was she and how did she die?Grace Dingle was the daughter of Chas Dingle and Paddy Kirk. She was born in October 2018 after Chas learned in February of that year that she was pregnant, after forgetting about her contraceptive injection.
However she tragically died soon after she was born, living for just 29 minutes. Chas learned at her 20-week scan that her daughter had a condition called Bilaterial Renal Agenesis – meaning her kidneys and bladder had failed to develop.
She was told that if the diagnosis was confirmed her daughter would not survive after being born – but Chas kept the devastating news to herself, only sharing the news with Paddy later on after he had decorated the nursery, having believed everything to be fine with the baby. Discussing this episode, producer Laura Shaw said: ‘We’ve already seen Paddy speaking to his GP, being prescribed medication, going for counselling and talking to his friends and family, to help him with his struggling mental health.
