There’s plenty of brilliant telly to get stuck into this Christmas, including some fantastic dramas. One that those choosing to spend much of the festive period in front of the box can watch is Nolly, which begins tonight (27 December). While the programme originally aired on ITVX earlier this year, it will be broadcast in full on ITV in the coming days.

Noele ‘Nolly’ Gordon was an actress and TV presenter, born on Christmas Day in 1919.
She was best known for playing the lead role of Meg Mortimer in ITV soap Crossroads for 17 years. In the early stages of her career, she attended RADA, appearing in repertory theatres and the West End stage. In 1954, she spent a year learning American television production at New York University which brought her acting career to a halt.
But she soon returned to the UK, joining Associated Television in London, and presented their first-ever TV programme, The Weekend Show. She also worked as a producer on the network, and was involved in helping launch ATV Midlands in 1956.
