Whitney Houston biopic casts Naomi Ackie as late singer

Iconic singer Gerry Marsden has passed away. The lead singer of Gerry and the Pacemakers and singer of Liverpool Football Club anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone died at the age fo 78 according to reports via BBC.

Phyllis McGuire, the youngest of the harmonizing, chart-topping trio The McGuire Sisters, died Tuesday at her estate in Las Vegas. She was 89.

Eli Countryman Phyllis McGuire, the lead singer and last remaining member of the 1950s trio known as the McGuire Sisters, died in her Las Vegas home on Tuesday, according to The New York Times. She was 89.McGuire’s death was confirmed to the Times by the Palm Eastern Mortuary, but no cause of death was announced.The singer’s path to fame began when she and her two sisters, Christine and Dorothy McGuire, appeared on “Arthur Godfrey Talent Scouts” in 1952, winning the contest.

 Whitney Houston  won’t have to wait until her biopic premieres on Thanksgiving of 2022 to learn more about her. Lifetime just released the first trailer of a new documentary about Houston and her daughter.

It was great,» Bassett recently told ET's Kevin Frazier.

 Whitney Houston  would have a biopic set to be released for Thanksgiving 2022. More details have surfaced about the film, including that British actress Naomi Ackie could portray Houston in I Wanna Dance With Somebody.“We spent the better part of the last year in an exhaustive search for an actress who could embody Whitney Houston,” the film’s director Stella Meghie told Hollywood Reporter.

The Whitney Houston biopic has found its lead in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” actress Naomi Ackie.  Ackie will be the star of the upcoming film “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” which is titled after one of the late singing icon’s most popular songs.The film will be written by Anthony McCarten, best known for penning the recent Oscar-winning biopic about Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, “Bohemian Rhapsody.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ackie was selected following a worldwide search

After months of searching, it seems the team behind the musical biopic of Whitney Houston’s life has found its leading lady.

After a worldwide search, Naomi Ackie has been chosen to play iconic performer Whitney Houston in the biopicI Wanna Dance With Somebody. The British actress, who had a pivotal role inStar Wars: Rise of Skywalker,is in negotiations for the feature from Sony and its TriStar division, which has set the movie for a Thanksgiving 2022 release.
