Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will not take up his usual touchline position this weekend when the Reds travel to Everton in the Premier League.
Ten Hag was issued an automatic one-game ban prior to the international break after picking up his third yellow card of the campaign against Luton Town. Under new roles this season, a manager only needs to pick up three bookings to earn a touchline ban, reduced from last season's four to try and prevent misconduct from the sidelines.
One rule change for this season also prevented managers who are sent off during a match to watch the game from the stands. However, as MEN Sport understands, Ten Hag will be allowed to complete this and a number of his other functions at Goodison Park.

The United boss will likely watch the match from the director's box this weekend because he has received a regulatory one-match suspension for yellow cards accrued.
Due to his suspension, Ten Hag cannot go down to the bench directly to deliver messages to his team but he can communicate with the dugout by phone or a 'runner'. The United boss will be allowed to communicate with his team inn the dressing room prior to kick-off and at half-time to get his point across.
However, he will not be allowed to be on the touchline at any time. This means he cannot be at pitch level prior to the game, during the warm-ups or at the culmination of the match.
