People in West Lothian marked the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style with parties galore!
Many people around the county took advantage of the extra long weekend to hold street parties and celebrations to mark the historic occasion.
Schools treated pupils to picnics and tea parties while many groups and community organisations celebrated the Queen’s 70-year reign in their own special way.
In Blackridge, members of the Parish Church organised a wonderful exhibition with artwork created by locals.
The Festival of Flowers and Craft had Blackridge Primary School, members of the congregation, locals clubs and people from the village.
Meanwhile the West Lothian 50+ Network entertained people in Bathgate with singing and dancing before enjoying some well-deserved refreshments.
And at Armadale Methodist Church a tree planting ceremony followed afternoon tea.
A beacon lighting ceremony was held for the Platinum Jubilee at Beecraigs Country Park on Thursday evening.
Over 100 locals attended the event which saw beacons lit on the highest peaks of the UK and the Commonwealth to mark the anniversary of the Queen’s coronation.
Newly-elected Provost Cathy Muldoon led the Lighting of the Beacon as part of the ceremony with both music and speeches.
And in Linlithgow, a service of Thanksgiving took place at St Michael’s Church.
Around 400 guests were in attendance - including pupils from all schools in West Lothian with readings from Emma Fairbairn of Broxburn Academy, and Aimee Swann of St Margaret’s Academy alongside a performance by the Linlithgow Academy Senior String Ensemble.
The church’s music was organised by St Michaels Director of Music, featuring an organist and a choir.
