Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations Kick Off With Trooping The Colour Parade; Harry & Meghan Said In Attendance But Not Due On Balcony

A new beginning? Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal family relationship may either be renewed or strained after their visit for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Royal biographer Duncan Larcombe reveals that if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex say anything about their visit behind closed doors, they might be dropped from the family entirely.

The Queen has delighted crowds by making a surprise appearance at the end of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The monarch appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony, dressed in green, alongside the Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, and the Cambridge family.

Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice have been celebrating the Queen ’s Jubilee with volunteers in London. The royal sisters, and daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, joined an outdoor party in London organised by Westminster Council for local volunteer and community groups who lent a helping hand throughout the pandemic. The pair got royally stuck in to the festivities, giving plate spinning an attempt.

Queen Elizabeth is being celebrated with a star-studded concert!

Cheeky comedian Lee Mack wasted no time in using the Queen's Platinum Jubilee as an opportunity to stick the knife in Boris Johnson – metaphorically of course.The northern comic, 53, opened the concert, which is being held outside the gates of Buckingham Palace, by making light of the so-called 'partygate' affair in Downing Street. Speaking with the Prime Minister in attendance, who was in the royal box, Mack said: "Finally we can say the words ‘party’ and ‘gate’ and it’s a positive." The joke drew cheers and laughs from the crowd.The embarrassing quip comes just a day after the PM was booed outside St Paul's Cathedral as he attended the Thanksgiving service with members of the Royal Family.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had a playful moment during the Trooping the Colour ceremony.  The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were seen playfully shushing the younger royals while watching the parade during Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Harry was seen holding his finger to his mouth as he bent down next to his cousin, Lena Tindall, 3.  His wife, Markle, echoed a similar gesture to the group of young girls, including Zara Tindall's children, Lena and Mia, 8, and Peter Phillips' daughter Savannah, 11.The girls playfully mimicked the Duchess’ motion back to her.  Prince Harry shushed some of his cousins during the Trooping the Colour ceremony. He did a similar gesture during the 1990 ceremony.

Barack Obama is virtually joining the Platinum Jubilee celebration. Obama sent a video message to Queen Elizabeth II to congratulate her on her 70th anniversary as a queen.“May the light of your crown continue to reign supreme,” Obama said during the BBC broadcast of Trooping the Colour. “When you’re president of the United States, you meet a lot of remarkable people, and you try under all circumstances to retain your composure,” the 44th president began his message.

The United Kingdom is celebrating Queen Elizabeth's 70-year reign with the Platinum Jubilee, but some members of the royal family have not been included in all the festivities. A portrait of Queen Elizabeth II has been released in order to mark the start of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The specially commissioned portrait sees Her Majesty, 96, smiling in the Victoria Vestibule at Windsor Castle, with the Castle’s Round Tower, and the statue of King Charles II, which stands in the Quadrangle of the Castle, both visible in the background.
