We Don't Talk About Bruno by the Encanto Cast today overtakes Fireboy DML and Ed Sheeran's link-up Peru as the race for Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart heats up.
In Sunday's Official Charts First Look, it seemed that Peru would become Fireboy DML's breakthrough UK Number 1 and Ed's 14th. Indeed, some huge names have been throwing their support behind the track online, from supermodel Naomi Campbell to SBTV's Jamal Edwards. However, the duo's path to the top has been complicated by the reigning chart hit from Disney's Encanto.
As it stands, We Don't Talk About Bruno leapfrogs ahead of Peru, it's currently in the lead by 5,000 chart sales as we enter the final 48 hours the race. While Peru is the UK's best seller of the week so far, the popular Disney smash powers ahead on streaming platforms.
Last week, We Don't Talk About Bruno became the first original Disney song to hit Number 1 in the UK, as well as the first Number 1 single for credited cast members Rhenzy Feliz, Adassa, Stephanie Beatriz, Mauro Castillo, Diane Guerrero, and Carolina Gaitan.
The cut-off point for chart sales to count towards the race is 11.59pm tomorrow (Thursday January 27) - so it's still all to play for.
Encanto is also looking to take up three places in the Top 10 this week; as it stands, Jessica Darrow's ode to eldest sibling anxiety Surface Pressure is down to reach a new peak of Number 4, while The Family Madrigal could rise seven spots to a new peak of Number 8.
Lost Frequencies and Calum Scott are also on track to achieve their second Top 10 single each with the slow-burning Where Are You Now currently jumping to Number 8 after months of ascent.
