The Weeknd's Super Bowl halftime show has already had an impact on the internet -- but perhaps not the kind that the singer-songwriter would have hoped for. The star's pricey performance featured a sequence in which he appeared to get lost in a labyrinth-like maze of lights and dancers in the stands of Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla.

The Weeknd performed one of the most memorable sets at the Super Bowl LV halftime show and celebrities including Drake, Sophie Turner and Timothée Chalamet have all expressed their appreciation. The Canadian singer took to the stage at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida during the match between the Chiefs and Buccaneers on Sunday evening to deliver fans an electric setlist of songs including ‘Starboy’, ‘The Hills’ and ‘Can’t Feel My Face’.

There might have been a limited attendance due to coronavirus restrictions, but The Weeknd adapted to give a glittering Super Bowl half-time show - while Miley Cyrus was joined by veteran stars for her performance. The 65,890-capacity Raymond James Stadium in Florida was filled with just 25,000 fans - including 7,500 vaccinated healthcare workers - while the rest of the audience was made of cut-outs.

Although much of the musical focus of last night’s Super Bowl in Tampa, Florida was placed on halftime show headliner The Weeknd, there was still room for some (aural) fireworks in the earlier segment of the show. Kicking off the evening’s broadcast was Californian R&B guitarist and songwriter H.E.R., who delivered a tasteful, graceful performance of “America The Beautiful” which gave way to an absolutely massive guitar solo.

With the COVID-19 pandemic still in full swing, The Weeknd had to up the ante for his halftime show at Super Bowl LV, which only 25,000 fans were allowed to attend — surrounded by 30,000 cardboard cutouts — in a nearly 66,000-seat stadium. And up the ante he did.
