"Evergreen" from Omar Apollo's 2022 project has become the biggest hit of the young singer-songwriter's career so far. A snippet of the tattered-and-torn break-up ballad has soundtracked millions of videos on TikTok and landed "Evergreen" a spot on the Billboard Hot 100 (it's peaked at No.
51, so far). The song could get another boost with Apollo's performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night, which you can watch above.
Backed by a full band decked in white, Apollo is styled like a Balenciaga bouncer for the song. It's a faithful rendition of the track's album sound — a bracing shot of classic soul built on some particularly lovely backup vocals.
Fittingly, the entire performance's visual quality is processed to resemble one you might catch on late-night television in the '80s. Check it out above.

dug up a clip on Twitter from a 2016 episode of the show in which Corden, 44, and fellow late-night host, Jimmy Kimmel, 54, played a round of Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts.“Obviously those stories are anecdotal but I found it so telling when Corden couldn’t name any of his cameramen during a segment on his own show. These are the guys who he owes his image + livelihood to!” Stryker tweeted.Corden’s segment is simple: He and his guests either answer personal questions, or opt to eat disgusting dishes, such as a bull penis or a fish smoothie. During Kimmel’s turn, he asked the Carpool Karaoke king to “Name two of the cameramen in this room.” The pair both laughed as Corden stalled.“That is a great question,” he said before taking a gander around his set.

Brian Steinberg Senior TV Editor Less than a year ago, Paramount Global found a new reason to cheer about the midnight hour. In December, the company did something few of its competitors could do: It struck a deal with Google to have three different late-night hosts weave a promotional message about the search-engine giant into their programs. On the night of December 15, Stephen Colbert, James Corden and Trevor Noah all nodded to Google during CBS’ “Late Show” and “Late Late Show” and Comedy Central’s “Daily Show.” The ad deal represented a vote of confidence in a sturdy portfolio of late-night programs that spanned broadcast and cable. Now, a good chunk of the talent in that collection is gearing up to move.
