At the 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards, Christian Nodal, Los Angeles Azules and more are repping regional Mexican music as finalists.The upcoming event will honor the best in Latin music, with 59 different categories in the main musical genres, including Latin pop, tropical, Latin rhythm and regional Mexican.

Last week, a Saudi woman who raps under the name Ayasel Slay released a music video for her song, “Bint Mecca,” which translates in English to “Girl From Mecca.” Prince Khalid bin Al Faisal, the governor of the Mecca Region of Saudi Arabia, issued a statement on Twitter calling for her arrest, alleging that the track goes against the customs and traditions of the city.

With Bad Bunny and Ozuna leading the pack as 14-time finalists and artists such as Daddy Yankee, J Balvin and Anuel AA not far behind, it’s safe to say that Latin urban music is set to dominate the 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards, taking place Thursday, April 23, via Telemundo.
