People are being warned over a "vomiting bug" that produces similar symptoms to Omicron as the virus spreads this January.
Known as norovirus, the sickness bug is particularly prominent during the colder months of the year.
Norovirus, also called the "winter vomiting bug", is a stomach virus that can be very unpleasant - with symptoms including nausea and vomiting as well as aches, a high temperature and a headache.
Unfortunately, the Omicron variant of coronavirus also results in similar symptoms, but there are some ways to differentiate between the two.
The key to keeping on top of the virus is knowing the sign to look out for.
Here is everything you need to know about norovirus including symptoms, how to treat it and how to tell the difference between the sickness virus and Covid-19.
The full list of symptoms to look out for are as follows:
Nausea (feeling sick)
Vomiting
Diarrhoea
A high temperature
A headache
Aching limbs
As the virus is highly contagious, you must stay home from work or school as soon as they appear.
You are also required to isolate yourself at home until 48 hours have passed since the last time you were sick.
The NHS warned: “Stay off school or work until you have not been sick or had diarrhoea for at least 2 days.
"This is when you're most infectious.
“Do not visit hospitals or care homes during this time.”
Though there is some crossover, the symptoms of norovirus generally differ greatly from those of coronavirus.
The most up to date list of coronavirus symptoms are as follows:
Fever or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhoea
