Ralph Ahn was an actor best known for playing the mostly silent grandfather figure Tran on “New Girl.”Born to a family of Korean independence activists who were some of the first Korean immigrants to the U.S., Ahn grew up in California and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Ralph Ahn, who recurred as Nick’s mostly silent friend on Fox’s New Girl and had credits dozens of credits spanning more than 65 years, has died. He was 95. Korean American Federation of Los Angeles reported his February 26 death but did not provide details.

Matt Barr is set to star in Walker: Independence, the spinoff of The CW’s Walker.
