‘Virgin River’, ‘Stranger Things’ And ‘The Gray Man’ Log Another Week At Top Of All-Netflix Nielsen Streaming Chart

Stranger Things ended up not walking the red carpet or attending the show so far. Actors Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, and Gaten Matarazzo were missing from the red carpet this evening. Sink, notably, was at the Toronto International Film Festival with Taylor Swift on 9 Sept and on her own 1 Sept.

Variety‘s Marc Malkin spoke with “Stranger Things” executive producer and director Shawn Levy about developing the incoming “Stranger Things” Cinematic Universe. “Yes, we are building out the STCU, and now that I’m spending time with [chief creative officer of Marvel Entertainment] Kevin Feige, I’m learning a lot about how to manage a universe,” he said. “So I’m taking those skills and applying them to the STCU.” Beyond “Stranger Things,” Levy is set to direct the upcoming third Deadpool film. When asked if there could be a crossover between the two properties, Levy had a surprising answer.

Ending a stretch of almost three months when Stranger Things was No. 1 or No. 2, The Sandman knocked it down to third place for the week of August 8 to 14. Nielsen said the fantasy drama series won the week with almost 1.4 billion minutes of viewing.

The show followed the platform’s traditional playbook and released 10 episodes on its original release date, as well as a surprise bonus episode two weeks later on Aug. 19.

With five titles surpassing 1 billion minutes of streaming, the week of August 1 to 7 found a familiar champion on the Nielsen streaming chart: Stranger Things.

Puberty posed a problem for the creators of “Stranger Things”.
