A rapist who abused a woman whilst the Kings of Leon’s Sex On Fire played is spending his time in custody studying for a psychology and criminology degree.
A lawyer for Bradley Isherwood, 25, told judge Lord Tyre on Tuesday that the sex offender has enrolled at the Open University.
The High Court in Edinburgh had earlier heard Isherwood’s 24-year-old victim say how she heard the song whilst being sexually assaulted by Isherwood.
She also told the court of how Isherwood had abused her between April 2016 and December 2021. Prosecutor Donald Davidson asked her to recall the assault and she said she had gone to bed in the moments before she was assaulted.
She said that Isherwood, of Leith, Edinburgh, had been spending time with a man in another room and ignored her when she refused to have sex with him.
The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told Mr Davidson: “I said no. I am tired. It became clear that he wasn’t going to take no for an answer so I just kind of lay there and took it.”
She said she looked into the wall and tried to take herself away from where she was and that Isherwood’s male friend “could hear everything.”
Mr Davidson said: “Was the friend cheering?”
She replied: “He was clapping his hands and saying ‘come on Bradley, come on Bradley’ and playing that song. He was playing ‘Your Sex is on Fire’. He had an iPhone.”
The story emerged during Isherwood’s trial at the court which ended when jurors convicted him on charges of raping three women last month. He was also convicted on other abuse charges.
On Tuesday, Isherwood’s case called in court again for sentencing.
Judge Lord Tyre gave him 10 years in custody and ordered him to be supervised by the authorities for three years following his release from
