On Tuesday (March 15), Vice President Kamala Harris‘ office released a statement confirming that her husband has tested positive for the virus.

“Earlier today, the Second Gentleman tested positive for Covid-19,” VP Harris‘ deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh said in a statement via CNN. “Out of an abundance of caution, the Vice President will not participate in tonight’s event. The Vice President tested negative for Covid-19 today and will continue to test.”
Later that night, Doug, 57, tweeted about his test results, encouraging people to get vaccinated.
“I tested positive for COVID. My symptoms are mild and I’m grateful to be both vaccinated and boosted,” Doug tweeted. “If you have yet to get vaccinated and boosted, please don’t wait.”
Doug‘s positive test is the first known case of COVID among the First of Second Families since President Joe Biden and VP Harris took office back in January 2021.
