At the beginning of the coronavirus lockdown, there were approximately 2.1million slots available.
This figure was quickly increased to 2.6million as demand soared.
Environment Secretary George Eustice has now confirmed it will increase once again, this time to 2.9million.
But he admitted it will still "not be enough to meet all of the demand".
