People in the UK are being urged to check if they're eligible for a refund or discount on their TV licences, which cost £159 annually.
TV licences are a legal requirement if you want to watch any kind of live TV on any streaming platform, such as STV Player or All4. They're also needed to watch any kind of live or on-demand content on BBC iPlayer.
If you only ever use other streaming platforms like Netflix, Prime Video or Disney+, then you may not need a licence at all. But if you do, there may be a discount or a refund available.
The Mirror reports that certain people may be eligible for a discount, including over 75s who receive Pension Credit, care home residents, and people who are severely blind.
If you are blind yourself, or live with someone who is, you can get a blind concession TV licence for £79.50 for a colour TV - which is half the price of a regular one.
Certain groups might be eligible for a TV licence discount. These include people who are severely blind, over 75 years old and receive Pension Credit, and those living in care homes.
In order to claim this, you must be able to provide one of the following:
A full TV licence currently costs £159, which could be a big saving for those who can claim it back. Here's a rundown of the rules for other discounts, as well as how to cancel it if needed.
If you're 75 or older and receive Pension Credit, or live in a residential care home, you might be eligible for a free TV licence.
If you won't need your licence again before it expires and have at least one complete month left on it, you can request a refund. This can be done up to 14 days before the date you no longer need the licence. T
If it's already expired, you can still request a refund within two years of the expiry
