The Trial of the Chicago 7 editor Alan Baumgarten topped the dramatic feature editing category ofAmerican Cinema Editors's 71st ACE Eddie Awards, whilePalm Springs'sMatthew Friedman and Andrew Dickler won the category for best edited comedic feature, during Saturday's virtual ceremony. This is the third ACE Award for Baumgarten, who also accepted Eddies for American Hustle in 2014 and Recount in 2009.

The last guild award ceremony of this long protracted awards season went to the American Society of Cinematographers and they were in a “Mank” mood for the 2021 ASC Awards. Their premiere honor went to Erik Messerschmidt for his work on David Fincher‘s passion project.

The Oscars may have combined the Sound Editing and Sound Mixing categories into one Best Sound award this year, but the industry honors are continuing to move forward separately. Over the past two days, the MPSE Golden Reel Awards (Sound Editing) and the Cinema Audio Society’s CAS Awards (Sound Mixing) announced their yearly honors.

The Trail of the Chicago 7, Soul and Tenet were among the film winners at the 68th annual MPSE Golden Reel Awards, which were handed out during a virtual ceremony tonight. The Motion Picture Sound Editors also honored TV shows including The Mandalorian and The Queen’s Gambit.
