Travis Scott was allegedly at the center of a physical altercation that occurred during Richie Akiva’s “The After” party on Thursday night in Cannes. Early reports suggested the brawl involved rapper Tyga, although footage shared with Variety appears to show it was model and producer Alexander “A.E.” Edwards, Cher’s boyfriend and Tyga’s friend, and allegedly Scott who were throwing most of the punches. Sources close to the situation say American record producer Southside was also seen pushing Edwards, which is what possibly led to the escalation of the fight between Scott and Edwards.
Variety has reached out to representatives for Edwards, Scott and Southside who did not immediately respond. Variety can confirm Tyga was present at the afterparty though, based on review of these videos, he did not physically participate in the fight. Both Tyga and Edwards remained at the party until early in the morning and no one was reported to be seriously hurt during the confrontation.
A little over a year ago, Scott was caught in another late-night brawl and was accused of assaulting a 52-year-old man at a New York nightclub where rapper Don Toliver was hosting an after-party. “The victim was punched in the face and there was subsequent damage to an audio speaker [and] a video screen causing about $12,000 in damages,” officers from the New York City Police Department said at the time. No arrests were made.
Just a few weeks ago, Scott and event promoter Live Nation settled nine of the 10 wrongful death lawsuits that came in the wake of Scott’s Astroworld Festival that left 10 concertgoers dead. News of the settlements came as one of the lawsuits was set to go to trial. Jury selection was set to begin on May 8.

Guy Lodge Film Critic No major film festival is complete without at least one Love Letter To Cinema™ from a filmmaker of some renown, to advocate the joys of the medium to an audience that doesn’t have to be told twice. French writer-director and Cannes regular Arnaud Desplechin brings that to the Croisette this year with “Filmlovers!,” a duly warm and nostalgia-washed cine-valentine, but one with a little more to say than just, “Movies, amirite?” Indeed, the film’s somewhat inelegant English-language title risks concealing the more specific focus of this unassuming but winning hybrid documentary: The French title, “Spectateurs!,” makes clear this is first and foremost a celebration of spectatorship rather than filmmaking, probing the dynamics of cinema audiences and their relationship to the screen.

Drag Race and elsewhere that a good drag queen has to be able to do it all, still not appreciate the loads of talent involved.“I think a lot of queens try to answer this,” Monét continues. “Is it the gay thing? Why is it that folks do not value the immense talents and contributions that drag queens have made to the industry? I don’t understand why they don’t see the value and how fucking incredible it is.”While frequently expressing her gratitude for the opportunities her talents as a drag performer have earned her, especially since co-winning Drag Race All Stars Season 4, Monét also spoke of her frustration that drag queens often are not being appreciated for the artists they are.Particularly in the music arena, which is packed with Drag Race alums pumping out club tracks, perceptions appear to be extremely limited in what kind of music the market wants from drag queens.
