TOWIE star Debbie Bright has paid a touching tribute to Kate Ferdinand – who has just released a new children’s picture book. Debbie, the 61 year old mother of Lydia Bright, described Kate, 32, as a “special young lady” during the launch event for The Family Tree.
Kate, who is expecting another child with husband Rio Ferdinand in a matter of weeks, has said she wanted to “change the narrative” about ‘wicked stepmothers’ through the new book, which is about blended families. Kindhearted Debbie has fostered more than 200 kids during her time - as well as raising fellow TOWIE star Lydia, 32, and her three siblings.
Posting a picture from Thursday’s launch event to her Instagram stories, Debbie wrote: “From the minute we met I knew you were special @xkateferdinand it’s strange because I met so many people from all walks of life but with age comes wisdom and you are a very special young lady…always remember that journeys of life teach us very important lessons…keep being YOU.” Kate insisted that “not all step mums are wicked” as she released her children’s book this week. The TV star, already mum to two year old son Cree with her husband, is also stepmum to Rio’s children Lorenz, 16, Tate, 14, and Tia, 12, from his marriage to Rebecca Ellison, his late wife who died of breast cancer in 2015. Kate’s book The Family Tree is described as ‘a heartwarming story full of magic, friendship and baking that will help children of blended families feel seen, heard and appreciated’.
