With the summer season upon us, thousands of Brits will be jetting off to various global destinations to soak up some much-needed sun. However, experts are now cautioning the public to be aware of some easily missed travel laws following an influencer's holiday mishap that cost £1,500.
Just this week, a Dubai-based influencer was caught filming videos on the pink-hued Spiaggia Rosa beach in Sardinia, Italy. Despite its captivating beauty, the beach has been prohibited since 1994, after tourists began pilfering its sand, causing the pinkness to diminish.
But it appears Sardinia isn't the only place with stringent laws for tourists. Parkdean Resorts is now raising awareness about some of the most bizarre rules across Europe and beyond.
Levante beach is one of Benidorm's most beloved seaside gems. Spanning 2km, it is home to numerous sun loungers and children's play areas, all set against the backdrop of stunning golden sands.
But be careful, if you want to build a sandcastle here you may need to obtain a licence - otherwise, you could be hit with a fine of up to €150 (£129). This rule was implemented after Benidorm's Town Hall voted against large sand structures in 2016, due to issues with 'inappropriate images' and 'dirtiness', as reported by The i.
Experts from Parkdean Resorts said: "Benidorm is all about sun and fun but if you want to build sandcastles on Levante beach you'll need to get a permit first or you could be fined up to €150 (£129). If you also smoke, sleep or use shampoo or body wash on the beach you could be fined hundreds more."
