‘Whispers of Fire & Water’ Review: A Man-Made Hell On Earth Is The Setting For An Eerie Indian Tale – Locarno Film Festival

The mystical and the industrial cross paths in this haunting debut from India, screening at this year’s Locarno Film Festival in the event’s parallel competition for first and second movies. It begins in an almost documentary style, showing the harsh, eerie beauty of Jharia, a once-proud mining community that’s now an apocalyptic ruin of a city, where toxic waste is dumped 24/7 and noxious fires burn just as endlessly. Midway through, however, Lubdhak Chatterjee’s film begins to change direction, as its passive hero becomes attuned to the natural mysteries lurking in the adjacent woods.

Francis Ford Coppola says Barbenheimer is “a victory for cinema”

Barbie and Oppenheimer enjoyed a hugely anticipated dual release this month (July 21), with huge box office returns. While answering questions from fans on his Instagram page, Coppola was asked about the two films, and he said it sets a shining example for cinema.“I have yet to see them, but the fact that people are filling big theaters to see them and that they are neither ‘sequels’ nor ‘prequels’… no number attached to them meaning they are true one-off’s is victory for Cinema,” he said.Oppenheimer, directed by Christopher Nolan, scored a glowing five-star review from NME‘s Paul Bradshaw, who wrote: “Not just the definitive account of the man behind the atom bomb, Oppenheimer is a monumental achievement in grown-up filmmaking. For years, Nolan has been perfecting the art of the serious blockbuster – crafting smart, finely-tuned multiplex epics that demand attention; that can’t be watched anywhere other than in a cinema, uninterrupted, without distractions.

‘Yellowjackets’: Nirvana, Alanis Morissette and John Cameron Mitchell Among Artists Featured on Season 2 Soundtrack

Jazz Tangcay Artisans Editor Nirvana’s “Something in the Way” and Alanis Morissette’s version of the “Yellowjackets” main theme, “No Return,” are among the songs on the drama’s Season 2 soundtrack. The official “Yellowjackets” album, out Sept. 1 on CD and digital formats, will feature 16 tracks. It’s now available for pre-order via Universal Music Canada and Showtime. Morissette recorded a new version of “No Return (Extended Version),” which opened Episode 4. “I love the original version of ‘No Return.’ It’s just a perfect song. It was a little daunting to be asked to reinterpret it, but I see parallels between ‘Yellowjackets’ and my perspective while songwriting: the sheer intensity, that going for the jugular with no fear of going for the profane,” the singer said last year.
