Tony Awards 2020 Nominations - Full List Released!

Slave Play, about race, sex and trauma, score 12 nominations, including for best play where it will compete with The Inheritance, Matthew Lopez’s two-part saga about gay life which scored 11 nominations. Broadway may still be shut down amid the coronavirus pandemic, but Thursday morning the Broadway League and American Theatre Wing announced the nominees for the 2020 Tony Awards. The nominations were revealed on the Tony Awards' YouTube channel by James Monroe Iglehart.

After initially deciding not to award the 2020 Tony Awards, the American Theatre Wing changed its mind. And, now months later, theatrical experiences for the 2019-2020 season that opened before the pandemic shut down Broadway will finally be recognized.

The Musical earning 14, and Slave Play and Tina – The Tina Turner Musical tying with 12.The 74th annual ceremony was originally scheduled to take place on June 7 live from New York City’s Radio City Music Hall.
