The film will arrive in Japanese cinemas on March 29, the company said on Thursday. That date is some two and a half weeks after the Oscars ceremony (March 10 in Los Angeles, March 11 in Japan), at which “Oppenheimer” has a strong chance of winning multiple awards. The festival will play at the Studio/K, Rialto De Pijp and Rialto VU venues March 5-10, 2024. The event will close with the out-of-competition screening of “Gaga,” a drama about indigenous communities in Taiwan, directed by Laha Mebow. “Gaga” documents the challenges faced by a commune after the death of a respected tribal elder who, while alive, had held things together.

“Star Wars” animation is always pointed to by diehard fans as some of the best storytelling the franchise has ever seen. In the retro movie, set in the early 1970s at the fictional prep school Barton Academy, Paul Giamatti’s grumpy teacher Paul Hunham is left to look after students who have no place to go over the Christmas break. Smith studied Hal Ashby’s “The Landlord” and “The Last Detail,” both released around that period, while creating the production design for “The Holdovers.” He observed everything in those films were stripped down, at least when it came to production design.

Ethan Shanfeld “Curb Your Enthusiasm” is going out with a bang, as Larry David couldn’t leave his long-running comedy without making a few more enemies. Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief KCON, the Korean pop music and culture convention operated by CJ ENM, will hold five editions in 2024, organizers said on Thursday. The first of the year will be Hong Kong, a new destination for the convention series, before moving on to KCON Japan in May 10-12 and KCON LA July 26-28. Other editions will be held in Saudi Arabia and Europe at unspecified dates in the second half of the year. The Hong Kong edition will be held at March 30-31 at the AsiaWorld Expo, a 10,000 seater venue adjacent to the airport.

Max has debuted the brand new trailer for the upcoming second season of Tokyo Vice!

Ansel Elgort is back on the beat: Toyko Vice, which is loosely inspired by American journalist Jake Adelstein’s first-hand account of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police beat, will return February 8 to Max.

While filmmaker Michael Mann helped “Tokyo Vice” get on its feet and gave the show its cinematic grammar, the series was always the creation of writer/showrunner and Tony Award winner J.T. Rogers.

Paramount+ has dropped the official trailer for Sexy Beast, its upcoming drama series prequel to the 2000 cult British gangster movie. James McArdle, Emun Elliott, Tamsin Greig, Stephen Moyer and Sarah Greene star in the series set to premiere January 25 on the streamer.
