Steven Spielberg has shared his reaction after seeing Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny for the first time.The upcoming fifth instalment is the first entry in the franchise not directed by Spielberg, who instead serves as an executive producer. James Mangold, who previously helmed Logan and Ford v Ferrari, takes up the role of director on the sequel.During the Time 100 Summit (via Variety), Spielberg was asked what it was like watching an Indiana Jones movie he didn’t direct.“I just had that experience two nights ago,” the director said.

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Steven Spielberg has seen “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” the fifth installment in the long-running adventure franchise and, notably, the first entry not to be directed by Spielberg himself. “The Wolverine” and “Ford v Ferrari” director James Mangold took over filmmaking duties on “Dial of Destiny.” Anyone worried a Spielberg-less “Indiana Jones” movie might not deliver the goods can now rest easy, as Spielberg himself loved the latest sequel. “I just had that experience two nights ago,” Spielberg said at the Time 100 Summit when asked what it’s like watching an “Indiana Jones” movie he didn’t direct. “Bob Iger had a screening for a lot of the Disney executives and I came to the screening along with the director James Mangold. Everybody loved the movie. It’s really, really a good Indiana Jones film. I’m really proud of what Jim has done with it.”

"Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" director James Mangold said this week that the fifth installment of the franchise opens with a 25-minute action sequence in which Harrison Ford, 80, plays a 35-year-old version of himself.  "I just shot him, and he just pretended that he was 35," Mangold told Total Film magazine of Ford who he called "incredibly gifted and agile." He added, "But the technology involved is a whole other thing."  Mangold explained that dots were placed on Ford’s face during the scene that takes place in 1944 and using VFX technology and old Lucasfilm footage of the actor as a younger man, he was de-aged.  The new film is set in the space race-era of 1969.  "We had hundreds of hours of footage of him in close-ups, in mediums, in wides, in every kind of lighting, night and day," he told the magazine. "I could shoot Harrison on a Monday as, you know, a 79-year-old playing a 35-year-old, and I could see dailies by Wednesday with his head already replaced." The director called the technology "incredible," saying he did not think about it while shooting the sequence.

Star Wars film, which he says is about “the discovery of the Force”.This week (April 7) Star Wars confirmed that three new films are in the works for the franchise, the first of which will be directed by Mangold, who has also directed this year’s upcoming Indiana Jones film, Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny.According to LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy, who appeared at this year’s Star Wars Celebration in London, the film will explore “the first Jedi to wield the force”.Speaking to Empire, Mangold has opened up more about the film and when it will be set.He said: “It takes place 25,000 years before Episode IV, and it’s about the discovery of the Force.“I told Kathy [Kennedy] I wanted to make a kind of Bible movie, a kind of Ten Commandments of Star Wars – kind of a Cecil B DeMille film about the arrival of the Force, and that’s what I’ve been pecking away at between press events. Bob Dylan biopic starring Timothée Chalamet is set to begin filming this summer, its director has confirmed.The project was announced in 2020, before being delayed indefinitely later that year with no release timeframe shared.The film is being helmed by Le Mans ’66 filmmaker James Mangold and is reportedly titled Going Electric. It will focus on Dylan’s controversial decision in 1965 to embrace the electric guitar, alienating many of his original fans.It was claimed by Deadline in 2020 that Chalamet was learning guitar for the role “so he can familiarise himself with the acoustic and electric guitar”.Now, Mangold has confirmed that the Dune actor will also sing all Dylan’s songs himself for the film, which is now on track to shoot this August.“It’s such an interesting true story about such an interesting moment in the American scene,” Mangold told Collider.Watch the interview below..@mang0ld tells us his @bobdylan biopic with #TimothéeChalamet starts filming in August and Chalamet will do his own singing in the film.

Earlier today at the Star Wars Celebration in London, Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy announced three upcoming “Star Wars” films: one from Dave Filoni, one from Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and another from James Mangold. Filoni’s film wraps up several storylines from Disney+ shows, while Obaid-Chinoy’s follows up on Daisy Ridley‘s Rey as she builds a new Jedi Order.
