Few TV shows that premiered this summer have absurdist verve of “Praise Petey.” The new animated series on Freeform follows Petra “Petey” St. Barts, a wealthy NYC socialite who inherits a small town called New Utopia from her recently deceased father, realizes her Dad was a cult leader, and discovers all of New Utopia’s residents are brainwashed to follow her.

“I Am Sirat,” a collaboration between Sirat Taneja and Deepa Mehta is all set to have its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film was entirely shot on cellphones and examines the duality of Sirat’s daily existence as a transgender woman living in New Delhi, India.

Lizzo is facing new allegations from multiple accusers after being sued last week for sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment, according to a lawyer representing three original plaintiffs. Ron Zambrano told Fox News Digital he has received inquiries from "at least six" additional individuals with "similar stories" since filing the lawsuit on behalf of Noelle Rodriguez, Crystal Williams and Arianna Davis, who previously worked as backup dancers for the 35-year-old singer.

Employment lawyer Ron Zambrano told NBC News the new allegations detail a “sexually charged environment” and failure to pay employees.“Some of the claims we are reviewing may be actionable, but it is too soon to say,” Zambrano told the outlet.Zambrano also claimed that Lizzo once called out a dancer’s weight at South By Southwest during a post-show meeting and told them it was “normal” for dancers to be “fired when they get fat”.The original lawsuit was filed by Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, who all worked for Lizzo till earlier this year, when Davis and Williams were fired and Rodriguez resigned.

Five takeaways on this year’s lineup: Recalibration of a Sense of Self “Three Bullets,” at Open Doors Projects Hub, is made by Dominican Génesis Valenzuela, an alum of San Sebastian’s prestigious Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, which plumbs the murder of Dominican immigrant Lucrecia Pérez, shot and killed by four neo-Nazis, the same year that Spain celebrated its conquest of Latin America. Valenzuela will come in at the film as she reconstructs her own identity as a “human being/woman/Afro-Caribbean/filmmaker.” “The driving force of this film is the desire for emancipation, both from the constraints of existence and from those of filmmaking,” she has said.
