A thug who bit a police officer's finger failed to break the skin - because he was missing his front teeth.
Charles Bertie, 38, has been jailed for four months after he admitted clamping his gums onto PC Steven Rae's finger.
Solicitor Mike Short, defending, said: "One reason there was no injury is that he lost his two front teeth because of his use of methadone."
Dundee Sheriff Court was told that Bertie had collapsed in the city centre and officers were called upon to go and help him.
