Brentford manager Thomas Frank is reportedly a strong contender to replace Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag should he be sacked at the end of the season.
According to The Telegraph, the Danish head coach has already built a strong relationship with INEOS prior to Sir Jim Ratcliffe purchasing a stake in United. It is understood no decision has yet been made on Ten Hag's future at Old Trafford but co-owners of the club have admiration for what Frank has achieved at Brentford.
One sticking point is that Frank prefers to be a 'manager' rather than the 'head coach' which INEOS would want him to be. Incoming sporting director Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox are ready to spearhead United's recruitment moving forwards.

With the 50-year-old the latest name to be linked with the United job should Ten Hag depart, MEN Sport has taken a closer look at the Dane's record against the Reds. Frank has a pretty poor record against United having faced them on six occasions, all of which have come in the Premier League.
Out of those matches, four have ended in United victories, with the largest margin being a 3-0 victory during Brentford's inaugural season in the top flight. The most recent match between Frank and the Reds came in March as a late Kristoffer Ajer goal ensured the points were shared in a 1-1 draw.
However, the big outlier in the record came in August 2022 when United were thumped 4-0 by Brentford in an early season encounter. The result led to many questioning Ten Hag's appointment at Old Trafford as his team were thrashed by their well-drilled opposition.
