A Rochdale dad claiming mould and damp in his housing association property is making his children feel 'constantly unwell'. Sajid Bashir, 47, lives in a Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) home on Delamere Road with his six children and wife.
He told the Manchester Evening News he first complained about mould, damp and a general state of disrepair in June. He claims little has been done to fix the issues.
Alongside mould, Mr Bashir claims his family has been left to deal with a raft of problems - including leaking pipes, sewage spills, rats and days without water or electricity. One of his children suffers from asthma and pancreatitis.

A spokesperson for RBH apologised for the issues faced by Mr Bashir and said its is 'working hard to resolve the issues'. Tragic Awaab Ishak died in December 2020 due to a respiratory condition linked to mould and damp in his home on the Freehold estate. He lived with his parents in an RBH property.
The scandal that followed led to a change in the law and widespread change in the sector. Mr Bashir said RBH is aware of the condition of his house and officials have visited, but claims little progress has been made, leaving him worried about his children's health.
"We've had a number of incidents with leaks, pipes burst, damp and mould in the house," he added. "My children are constantly unwell. They don't want to be at home and they also don't want to go to school. Their confidence is at rock bottom."
