Music can bring people together, even across generations. However, a song can also tear them apart.
Some music is so polarizing, for a variety of reasons, that it might even lead to a lawsuit.
Over the years, a multitude of major hits have had their day in court, often due to complaints of copyright infringement.
For instance, take the legal battle over “Blurred Lines,” which played out extensively in the press over the years. We promise more details on that are to come, by the way.
But Robin Thick and Pharrell Williams‘ hit wasn’t the only example in recent memory. Some artists have even been sued multiple times.
We gathered together 15 songs in total that have led to a lawsuit and provided an update on how things ended up working out.

On Tuesday (January 16), Louis Vuitton live-streamed their Men’s Fall-Winter 2024 Collection presentation held at Paris Fashion Week.During the stream, an unreleased Miley Cyrus song played near the 13-minute mark.
Billie Joe Armstrong has revealed that he almost gave a Green Day fan favourite track to 5 Seconds Of Summer.Armstrong spoke to People magazine about Green Day’s biggest hits throughout their career ahead of the release of upcoming album, ‘Saviors’. When the interview approached their 2016 full-length ‘Revolution Radio’, Armstrong spoke about ‘Still Breathing’, which he admitted was a song originally written for Australian pop rock band 5 Seconds Of Summer.“There’s a band called 5 Seconds of Summer who wanted me to write a song for them,” he stated.
Miley Cyrus fans were treated to a new song this week!
Miley Cyrus has reportedly been arrested outside her home.Alexander Karddalian was taken into police custody after showing up at the singer’s home with a stuffed animal, according to TMZ.He was allegedly arrested after Cyrus, who was believed to be at home at the time, and her team noticed him outside and called the police.The singer’s security allegedly detained him until police arrived and he was arrested for not complying with a court order.Karddalian has allegedly been stalking the singer since 2018 and last year, she was reportedly granted a three year restraining order against him after he showed up at her home in Los Angeles just days after he was released from prison in 2022.Elsewhere, Kelly Clarkson performed a powerful cover of Cyrus’ ‘Used To Be Young’ for her latest ‘Kellyoke’ cover this week.Cyrus previously said the song was “about honouring who we’ve been, loving who we are and celebrating who we will become”.She recalled how a songwriter had first approached her with what she described as a “standard fucked up in the club track”. It inspired her to write about how she can no longer relate to such a lifestyle now she is sober.“That’s not where I spend my time, you know,” she explained.

For far too long there has been a misconception that blush is a no-go for those with blemish-prone complexions. As somebody with textured skin who wears a lot of make-up and experiments with loads of different products and formulas, I can agree that powder blushes might not be the most flattering on acne-prone skin as they can look cakey and dry.
A quick perusal of the reviews indicated tv critics weren’t turned on by what they saw in CBS’s new incarnation of the Golden Globes. Host Jo Koy in particular took some heavy criticism for a generally unfunny and unsuccessful turn in a performance hovering around Ricky Gervais-insult level material but never really getting there. I can’t really speak to how they looked on the tube, but I can say it was fun in the room and the results as they count in the race towards Oscar can only be considered as extremely significant, a collection of winners without a single embarrassment between them. That alone is a triumph considering the history.
