Vince Staples on Why He Doesn’t Mind His New Rap Sitcom Being Compared to ‘Atlanta’ and ‘Dave,’ and His Hopes for a Second Season

William Earl administrator Rapper Vince Staples plays a semi-fictionalized version of himself in “The Vince Staples Show,” debuting today on Netflix. The comedy, which skewers celebrity culture and depicts Staples’ surreal adventures, comes after roles in the films “Dope” and “White Boys Can’t Jump” and series like “Insecure” and “Abbott Elementary.” Your character’s relationship with money is an important theme of the show. Why did you want to explore that? It’s a big part of what we deem to be celebrity, and it’s extremely subjective.

Netflix’s ‘The Vince Staples Show’ Feels Incomplete, Despite Some Brilliant Bits: TV Review

Aramide Tinubu Who is Vince Staples? Netflix viewers who might not know the rapper/singer can dive inside his psyche with his new limited satirical series, “The Vince Staples Show.” Using the same surrealist approach as the critically acclaimed “Atlanta” and “Reservation Dogs,” the Long Beach-set series is presented in five delirium-filled vignettes as Vince (the character) navigates his daily life. Viewers watch him trying to get a small business loan, taking his girlfriend Deja’s (Andrea Ellsworth) little brother and friends to a theme park and speaking to a class of middle school students at his alma mater. While the show, which Kenya Barris produces, has some truly laugh-out-loud moments, an uneven cadence and aimlessness throughout make for a frustrating watch overall.

IDLES recreate Coldplay’s ‘Yellow’ with new video for ‘Grace’

IDLES have released the official video for ‘Grace’, an AI recreation of Coldplay’s iconic ‘Yellow’ video, but with Chris Martin singing the words to this song instead. The video sees Martin strolling down the same beach that he walked along for his own 2000 song, as night turns to day inside four minutes.IDLES frontman Joe Talbot says the concept to use the Coldplay imagery for ‘Grace’ came to him in a dream, and he contacted Martin directly to ask for his permission. Martin not only agreed to it, but helped to train the AI software so that his new ‘performance’ would look more realistic.Check out the video here:“No god, no king, I said love is the thing,” sings Talbot during the track, showcasing IDLES’ new manifesto of love triumphing over nihilism. The song was produced by Nigel Godrich (Radiohead, The Smile, Beck), Kenny Beats (Denzel Curry, Vince Staples, Benee) and the band’s Mark Bowen, as is the rest of the album.“The song came from nowhere and everything.

Matthew Vaughn Calls Out “Weird” ‘Supergirl’ Cast Approach: “The Director Should Be Casting the Movie”

Earlier this week, “House Of The Dragon” star Milly Alcock landed the role of Supergirl in James Gunn and Peter Safran‘s new and improved DCU reboot. And the actress will star in a standalone film based around the superhero, which …still lacks a director? Strange stuff for the rebooted franchise to do according to “Argylle” director Matthew Vaughn, who’s a fan of Alcock’s but not of Gunn and Safran casting her so early into a film’s development.
