LONDON -- Polish Nobel literature laureate Olga Tokarczuk is among six finalists announced Thursday for the International Booker Prize for fiction in English translation.Tokarczuk’s 18th-century epic “The Books of Jacob” is a favorite to win the award, whose 50,000-pound ($65,000) prize money is split between a book’s author and its translator. She and her translator Jennifer Croft previously won for “Flights” in 2018, the same year Tokarczuk was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature.“Tomb of Sand” by India’s Geetanjali Shree is also on the shortlist.

New Order have launched a new official t-shirt in aid of the British Red Cross’ Ukraine Crisis Appeal.Available through the band’s official merch store, the shirt’s design was inspired by the VHS label of their Taras Shevchenko concert film, which was designed by the Peter Saville Associates agency.The gig in question was filmed in late 1981 at the Ukrainian National Home in New York City. The film was named after Taras Shevchenko, the 19th century writer, poet and painter whose works championed the formation of an independent Ukraine.You can purchase the white t-shirt for £25, with a minimum of £10 from each sale being donated to the Red Cross.Last November, New Order marked the 40th anniversary of their debut album ‘Movement’ by sharing the aforementioned NYC show on YouTube in its entirety.

But one woman who wouldn’t leave her pride and joy behind was Alisa Teptiuck.The 35 year old broke hearts after sharing a snap of her dog - a 12-year-old German Shepherd named Pulya (or Bullet, in English) - being carried to the Polish border on her husband’s shoulder.The photo went viral and left the internet praying for their safety. Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, met with Ukrainian refugees in Poland on Thursday.  Ferguson, 62, shared on Twitter that Poland has taken in about 1.7 million refugees so far. "The invasion of Ukraine is heartbreaking to watch. So many families are being separated and displaced," she wrote.
