‘The Staircase’ Is a Fascinating Look at Guilt, Innocence and Image: TV Review

The challenges of street casting are explored in The Worst Ones (Les Pires), an Un Certain Regard drama about a film within a film. Directed by Lise Akoka and Romane Gueret, it sees a film crew hit a working class French town, with thought-provoking and sometimes darkly funny results.  
 Flemish director Gabriel (Johan Heldenbergh) is casting kids in Picasso, in the suburbs of Boulogne-Sur-Mer. His feature is about a pregnant teen and her younger brother, and he wants authentic local residents. The neighbors are surprised that he’s only casting “les pires” — what they consider to be the worst ones, or the hoodlums. But there’s raw talent in Lily (Mallory Wanecque) and hot-headed little Ryan (Timéo Mahaut).

Lupita Nyong’o has exited Lady In The Lake, Apple’s limited series adaptation of Laura Lippman’s book. Nyong’o was to star alongside Natalie Portman, who remains in the series, sources confirm to Deadline.

Although the original French documentary series captures the Peterson family and their house in great detail, when Shaw first signed on alongside set decorator Edward McLoughlin, he hadn’t seen the documentary — and didn’t plan to.

Sutton Stracke is experiencing a couple of emotions as she prepares for  season 12 to premiere, namely «confusion» and «indifference.»At least, those are the words she uses to describe her feelings toward castmates Lisa Rinna and Erika Jayne, respectively. Lisa introduced Sutton to this group back in season 10, but their time together on the show has seemingly tested the pair's friendship, not strengthened it.«Well, I'm learning a lot more about Lisa and the complexity of her character and the ability to stand up to her,» Sutton tells ET of the «journey» the two go on in season 12. «It's a ,» the Georgia native reiterates in her signature Southern drawl. An appearance on Bravo's  last fall created quite the crack, as Sutton claimed to have invited Lisa and her husband, Harry Hamlin, as her guests to Elton John's annual Oscars party — a charitable event benefiting the singer's AIDS foundation — and never received a «thank you.» Sutton shared the story as an example of hypocrisy, as Lisa was actively arguing with co-star Garcelle Beauvais about not receiving a «thanks» for a small gift, a jar of Harry's homemade pasta sauce.

Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino has signed with CAA.  He recently wrapped production on Challengers starring Zendaya, Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist, which MGM recently acquired. Prior to that he had directed Bones and All, starring Timothee Chalamet and Taylor Russell.
