Two sisters who helped frame a man for crime he did not commit have been jailed. The custody images of Helen and Michelle McPartland have been released for the first time, after the pair were both locked up for perverting the course of justice.
The pair wept and wailed as they learnt they were being sent to prison, the Liverpool Echo reports. Liverpool Crown Court heard the pair made false accusations against their brother-in-law, as a long running family feud simmered.
Michelle, 51, had previously secured a non-molestation order against Graham Potter, the husband of their other sister Alicia, banning him from contacting or approaching her. Mr and Mrs Potter were in Widnes town centre with their dog on August 6 last year and were walking in the direction of Widnes Market when they spotted Helen's parked car nearby.

Mr Potter went into the market, leaving the pet with his wife. When he returned, they saw Michelle - of Lea Street - walking along the road and decided to leave in the opposite direction as a result of the court order. They then spotted her again on the other side of the building and returned to where they had started.
The couple walked back past 44-year-old Helen's car at this stage, with Mr Potter reporting that she said "the wrong sister died" - believed to be a comment referring to a fourth sister who died in a car crash more than 30 years ago - as they did so. At this, he replied "did you hear the tummy tuck brigade?". This was said to be a reference to Michelle, who had undergone such a procedure.
Mr and Mrs Potter then left the area. The next day, he was at a football match when his partner contacted him
